When we went into lockdown in March here in Madrid, I quickly realised I was going to have to change the way made obvious reached it's customers, and so the journey into running an online brand began. The first hurdle for me was packaging; to send our products in the most sustainable way possible took a lot of thought.
Firstly, I decided to do away with any unnecessary packaging. Like many, I am a complete sucker for beautifully wrapped deliveries, but most of this just goes straight in the bin. And even if it is made from recycled material, its production is purely for a moment of visual pleasure and in no way sustainable.
So I reduced it down to a made obvious' recycled cardboard box. The corrugated cardboard boxes are made from 90% recycled content, printed with water-based ink and designed to be used again.
Some other reasons I love these boxes are -
-They are biodegradable - when exposed to light, air, moisture and microbes, the boxes will break down to natural elements found in nature.
-They are made from certified wood - from paper pulp that’s sourced from responsibly managed forests and mills.
-They adhere to the clean air policy - that removes toxins and pollutants from the air used during the manufacturing process.
- They are compostable - meaning they will disintegrate into natural elements while in a specific environment, leaving no toxicity in the soil.
- They are plastic free - they contain no petroleum-based plastics.
And if all that's not enough - when purchasing boxes from my supplier, I donate to One Tree Planted so trees are planted in made obvious' name, supporting reforestation and giving back to the environment.
I would love to hear from you, what you think of our packaging?
